Because Florida is so child friendly, there are always entertaining places to visit. Here's something new, SpongeBob and 5 Championship Golf Courses. Pinch Me.

Florida is the place a majority of travelers have their eyes on when they are considering a family vacation or just a holiday get-away. Because Florida is so child friendly, there are always entertaining places to go and see. Including the one thing that costs nothing but provides memories of a lifetime… the beach.

Well, let’s add one more family rich get-a-way, the Miami Doral Golf Resort and Spa.

Children and adults alike can make a mess at the new Nickelodeon Getaway at Doral Golf Resort & Spa. Launched in June 2009, the program features a Nickelodeon-packed weekend full of games, dive-in movies, character meet-and-greets and crafts. Most events offered are free to guests and even though the Doral Golf Resort and Spa offers rooms starting at $159, if you book through Revolution Vacations you can save yourself $40 a night ($119 per night).

You’ll begin the experience as you’re greeted by your host who fills you in on the upcoming activities. Kids (parents too) can enjoy character breakfasts with Dora the Explorer. And what’s Nickelodeon without SpongeBob SquarePants?

Kids can also tee off for free on any of the resort’s five Doral golf courses, with the Marriott KIDS-GOLF-4-FREE program, letting kids between the ages of six and fifteen play for free after 3:00 p.m. when accompanied by a full paying adult, based on availability. In addition, young golfers will receive a free lesson (any day, any time) when accompanied by an adult who is taking a full paid lesson from a Marriott golf instructor.

By the way parents, the Doral Golf Resort and Spa has FIVE championship golf courses on site. Yes 5!

Book your weekend!

Remember last years vacation trend? The Staycation, also known as the stay near home vacation, hasn’t actually been un-trended. Like last year, people who are tight on extra money will be spending fewer days vacationing and staying closer to home… which is another term for “driving distance.”

So, does this mean people aren’t traveling this summer? No, not at all. People won’t give up their vacations, but they are becoming more frugal.

Because there are fewer travelers this summer, prices will be better for those that do vacation. Airlines, cruise ships, and hotels are going deep into their package deals and cutting prices to the bone. Less travelers also means less crowds. Unlike summers before, the beaches won’t be as packed, the parks won’t be as full and the lines in attractions will be much smaller. For some of us, the smaller lines alone are what will drive us to biting the bullet and going on our much needed, relaxing vacation.

Another thing. Luxury travel is doing just fine. It really hasn’t changed at all. You can find some good deals on luxury travel. Perhaps a Regent or Crystal cruise. However, don’t look for the deep discounts unless they are running some type of promotion.

Travel deals are in abundance this year. Gas prices are still lower than they were last year. Yes the prices are rising but a far cry from last summer. Hotels and condos are yours for the picking. Here are 8 tips to cut your cost of a summertime family vacation.

1. If your schedule can take it, invite friends or family who live far away to meet you at the destination. This way, you can visit and vacation at the same time. It will be far less expensive than if you took two trips (one for a vacation and the other to visit family), and you’ll create a lot more memories.

2. Set your budget and stick to it. Set your budget before you make your travel plans. Once you’ve returned from your trip, use any leftover money from the budget to treat yourself to something nice. This is a way to give yourself a big high five for sticking to your plan.

3. Don’t stay in a hotel if there are more than 2 of you going. You can stay in a condo for a much cheaper price. In addition, you will have more room, the condo’s are all top rate and you won’t have to eat out as often. Use a condo card and save yourself $600.

4. Pack with intelligence. You know you’re not going to wear most of the things you normally bring, so take half of what you normally pack. Make sure you have the essentials though. It’s costly to purchase certain things at vacation spots.

5. When scheduling your flight, remember it’s normally cheapest to fly out first thing in the morning. Yes, it’s early but you could save a lot of money. Especially if you are traveling with a crowd.

6. Eating out can blow your budget. By staying in a condo, you can go to the grocery store once you get to your destination and stock up on food. Eating out on vacations is really nice, but really expensive too. Try to limit the amount of times you eat out. Remember that budget!

7. Plan a loose itinerary of the places you want to go once you reach your destination. Many of them will more than likely offer different payment plans for certain times of the day and the year.

8. When eating out, try lunch or breakfast. Either meal is normally less expensive than dinner.

Above all else. Enjoy your vacation this year and celebrate the money you spent while so many discounts are being offered.

Why is it that vacations, once thought of as a time to “forget the real world”, have now become an extension of our work week. And, what are the repercussions?

1. Vacations help to eliminate stress. With “money” and “work” being the 2 major causes of stress, trying to “work through” those issues is not only dangerous to your health, it is counter productive. While the word stress seems so undaunting, it is only the cause to diseases such as heart attack, anxiety attacks, sleeplessness, high blood pressure and more.

2. Vacations make you think clearer. If you’re the kind of person that works, works, works, chances are you see blocks in your work time where you are becoming more and more unproductive. Because many of us tend to eat, sleep, and drink our work, we aren’t getting the rest we truly need. Are you getting 8 hours of sleep? Do you need prescription medications to allow you a good night’s rest? Studies have shown time and time again that we must have 8 hours of sleep every night. Without it comes brain fog and even diabetes. There’s a saying that “Creative thinking favors the relaxed mind…” and it’s true. If you’re seeing more and more of these burn out blocks of time in your work week, it’s not advised that you go on vacation, it’s necessary for your health.

3. Because you don’t have any extra money. Huh? That’s right. Vacations give our brains a chance to relax. Our shoulders come down from our ears, our spines straighten and our vision to outside opportunities become apparent. We tend to fall into routines. Don’t roll your eyes, it’s not a good thing. When our routing consists of being around the same people in the same atmosphere with the same issues and problems day after day, we don’t allow our minds to wander as when we were younger. We wouldn’t see opportunity if it was standing in front of us because we’re too busy. Vacationing in a different atmosphere helps us see things we can not see when living our day to day grind.

4. Family and Friends First. Jobs may come and go but family and friends are here to stay. Vacationing is a time to shut out reality and spend that time unwinding and enjoying… even rekindling our relationships with the people we love most. Often neglected in the real world, the people in our lives are what make us whole and well rounded. Not our job. By taking time out with friends and family, you won’t feel the guilt in not spending so much time with them in your “regular life”. This will help eliminate the guilt stress and it’s related diseases.

5. Because you want to live longer. Did you know that people living in countries where workers are required to take vacations live longer? Well, they do. In 1980 there were only 10 countries that lived longer than us. Now, there are people living in 41 countries that live longer than us. If that’s not enough reason to take vacations, then what is?

6. Because you don’t want to be an asset to the world, not a liability . It is said that job stresses and burn out cost our country over $300 billion each year.

7. Because you want to keep your job. With job burnout comes mistakes and incompetence. Jobs are hard to come by these days. When you are employed by an outside job, the hours you’ve agreed to give your employer each day are his or hers. Those hours are not for you to: space out, be sick, have brain fog or depression. If you’re required to be on your A Game 8 hours a day, then that’s what is expected of you.

8. If you own your own business, chances are you don’t have health insurance. If you do get sick, who is going to pay for that expense? Don’t expect a bailout from the government, we’re already being gouged for things we have no control over.

9. Because we need memories. Happiness is healthy. How often do you sit back in a nice comfy chair and reflect on your work day or how nice it was to be stuck in traffic? Memories are what put a smile on our faces and make us feel human. Take a vacation, create memories.

10. Because, in the end, you will never wish you’d spent more time at work. In the end you will wish you had spent more leisure time with your friends and your family. In the end, your family will wish they had more time with you.

It’s a fact, Americans love to take vacations. Further justifying this statement is in a national survey which was led by Virginia Tech and Clemson University. The study verified that almost half of Americans have no intentions on giving into the economy when it comes to this Summer’s vacation plans.

And there’s even more good news ahead. Fifteen percent (15%) of US Citizens plan to even travel more than they have in the past. This is because there are so many special offers being made on travel and vacation accommodations. In addition, the gas prices are lower than they were last summer. We can hardly forget last summer. As it finally became apparent to most of us that, yeah we’re in a big economic mess, gas prices hit us between the eyes at $4 or more per gallon. That’s when most Americans that normally took scheduled Summer Vacations put on the breaks or simply vacationed closer to their own homes.

In the national survey only 35% of those who answered the pole said there would be reconsidering plans for vacation this year.

Said Mr. Jeffrey Hallo or the Clemson University Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management Department, “People told us that they would sacrifice other luxuries rather than give up their travel plans.”

With unemployment at an all time high and baby boomers being the highest age group to start home businesses, the travel industry is ripe and ready. If you’re considering a home business, travel is one you can do without any sales experience or intimidation that you may not know much about the industry. I’ve helped many mothers (dads too!) who have left the work force, either by choice or by pink slip, get financial recovery in the travel industry. It’s fun and rewarding and as you read above, the industry is not seeing the downturns most other industries are.

Check out my travel site, it will open your eyes to the amazing and lucrative travel industry. Click here now!

Social networks, blogging, instant messenger and the like has turned some us from a somewhat private person to a blabbermouth! Remember when you were younger and your parents told you not to “tell our business” to the world? They did this for a very good reason. They didn’t want people to know you were going on vacation because that left your home vulnerable to a break-in. They didn’t want you to tell people when your parents were away, even if it was to the grocery store, for fear someone would hurt you, or worse.

Welcome to the world of “Everything Social”. People just don’t mind anymore telling the world what they’re up to. They not only let everyone on their “friends” list know that they’ve just eaten lunch and are now heading back to work. They also tweet their vacation plans all over the internet. They may as well just keep their house key taped to the front door.

Think that’s far fetched? Ask Israel Hyman. Mr. Hyman, an Arizona resident has approximately 2,000 people following him on Twitter. Recently he was a burglary victim while on a trip to Kansas City.

Hyman said he tweeted trip updates and tweeted the about the drive. And while he was on his trip, his video equipment was stolen from his home. The cat (burglar) followed the twitter-bird?

Of course he’s not sure if his tweeting was to blame for the burglary but it sure will make him much more cautious when he is on Twitter.

Vacations should be time spent with loved ones. Don’t let your last vacation memory be a bad one.

July is THE month for summer vacations and road trips. Make sure the time before you arrive at your destination isn’t hectic and stressful. This way you can actually enjoy the first day of vacation and not be too exhausted to think.

Here are 5 tips to make sure you arrive at your destination ready to see the world.

1. Make a list of everything you will be taking with you. Some things that are commonly forgotten are cell chargers, camera, batteries, sun screen. As you are packing the items from your list, make a check next to everything as it goes in the bags.

Second verse same as the first. Have you ever gotten home from your trip and realized your blow dryer is not in the bag? It seems we are worse at leaving things on the return trip than at leaving them out on the initial trip. Just like you did the first time, Check everything off as it goes into the suitcase and/or car.

2. Map out the trip with a highlighter.

3. Let someone know where you’re going. Make sure they know the name and whereabouts of the place you’re going to be staying and that they have your cell phone numbers.

4. Make sure your money is safe. Separate your money in 2-3 places. This way, if something gets stolen or lost, you can still proceed with your vacation and it will ensure that you won’t be washing dishes at the local diner in order to eat.

5. Check your tires for leaks. Make sure that break pads are working properly and you have the right amount of liquids in the right places in your automobile.

Have a great vacation!

Hairdressers are great. They’re typically chatty (comes with the territory), they make great listeners, they have a captive audience, and they have the scissors. How many times have you, or how many people do you know that have gotten their hair done before a vacation? Tons right? You know that’s true.

Hairdressers are great. They’re typically chatty (comes with the territory), they make great listeners, they have a captive audience, and they have the scissors. How many times have you, or how many people do you know that have gotten their hair done before a vacation? Tons right? You know that’s true.

If, as a hairdresser, you could also offer your clients a web site to book their travel at deep discounts, how much would they love you then? Now, of course, you more than likely can’t help the client who is leaving tomorrow but how about this conversation for next time:

Client: I just can’t wait to get to (vacation spot) I really need a break from work

Hairstylist: I know, you really deserve a break and listen… next time you plan a vacation, even if it’s just for a weekend, I can get you amazing deals with my membership so don’t forget to call me while you plan your next trip.

So now you have created even more value to this client. You can make them look wonderful, save them money, and you make even more money. No selling, no pushing… just do what you do and you can make a flat fortune just being yourself.

Click here and see what I mean.

A trip to Lake Buena Vista, in the Orlando area of Florida is centrally located to the beaches, great restaurants, shopping and more with Disney World less than 5 miles away. And, for the outdoors-types… consider taking a day or two off from your Lake Buena Vista stay and travel just 40 miles north to Cassadaga and enjoy a totally relaxing cabin in Blue Spring State Park. Or, if you’re more of a water baby, just go about 60 miles north west of Orlando to Ocala State Park where you can set up camping gear and spend your days swimming, snorkeling and fishing!

Don’t forget your condo card. Why pay more when you don’t have to. And why be cramped in a tiny expensive hotel when you can enjoy staying in a large condo for less money? Condo cards allow you to take $600 off your stay and in addition, there are no charges for extra people or extra days. All stays are for one week.

Get your condo card here, and while you’re at it… check out the Lake Buena Vista Blue Tree Resort. Yummy.
