It’s amazing that, even though many avid travelers are giving up exotic faraway locals this year, they’re still traveling. Even with the worry over job losses, people don’t like giving up their travels. After all, people seem to get lost in vacations. Many of the everyday worries are left at home.

Instead of doing a lot of flying, many are opting to drive to a destination. This way they save more money. They are also deciding on less expensive hotels and accommodations.

Instead of traveling for a week to 10 days, vacationers are taking plenty of day trips to the shore, museums, family attractions, historical sites or other areas that have interested them in the past, but not enough to actually go.

Travelers are looking for 2 things this summer. A vacation where they will not spend more than necessary and deep discounts that most of the travel industry is offering, successfully, to lure in vacationers.

Hard core leisure travelers will still take the same number of trips this year but they will stay fewer nights. What hotels are also seeing is that they wait until the last minute to book their vacation plans and leave. Even though the economy is really doing poorly, vacationers infuse the travel industry with their desires.

People are much more conscious than they were in the past and while many people see vacations as a luxury, health studies have shown that they are an absolute necessity.

Travel deals are in abundance this year. Gas prices are still lower than they were last year. Yes the prices are rising but a far cry from last summer. Hotels and condos are yours for the picking. Here are 8 tips to cut your cost of a summertime family vacation.

1. If your schedule can take it, invite friends or family who live far away to meet you at the destination. This way, you can visit and vacation at the same time. It will be far less expensive than if you took two trips (one for a vacation and the other to visit family), and you’ll create a lot more memories.

2. Set your budget and stick to it. Set your budget before you make your travel plans. Once you’ve returned from your trip, use any leftover money from the budget to treat yourself to something nice. This is a way to give yourself a big high five for sticking to your plan.

3. Don’t stay in a hotel if there are more than 2 of you going. You can stay in a condo for a much cheaper price. In addition, you will have more room, the condo’s are all top rate and you won’t have to eat out as often. Use a condo card and save yourself $600.

4. Pack with intelligence. You know you’re not going to wear most of the things you normally bring, so take half of what you normally pack. Make sure you have the essentials though. It’s costly to purchase certain things at vacation spots.

5. When scheduling your flight, remember it’s normally cheapest to fly out first thing in the morning. Yes, it’s early but you could save a lot of money. Especially if you are traveling with a crowd.

6. Eating out can blow your budget. By staying in a condo, you can go to the grocery store once you get to your destination and stock up on food. Eating out on vacations is really nice, but really expensive too. Try to limit the amount of times you eat out. Remember that budget!

7. Plan a loose itinerary of the places you want to go once you reach your destination. Many of them will more than likely offer different payment plans for certain times of the day and the year.

8. When eating out, try lunch or breakfast. Either meal is normally less expensive than dinner.

Above all else. Enjoy your vacation this year and celebrate the money you spent while so many discounts are being offered.

Take a look at some great travel deals Revolution Vacations has cooked up for you. Click Here.

The fans went wild in the opening weekend of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Could the actions of Harry Potter fans end up being bigger than the Trekkies? Time only knows but watch out, the following is major.

Are you a fan of the the lonely orphan Harry James Potter?

If you happen to travel to England or Scotland consider a Harry Potter Fan Trip.

Cruise the same trails as the filmmakers of Harry Potter do. This two-day jaunt will take you along the England and Scotland border. You’ll be magically amazed at the Glouchester Cathedral (which we know as Hogwarts School of Witchraft and Wizardry, of course) and you’ll also visit the The medieval village of Lacock in Bath where you’ll see the place Professor Horace Slughorn and his classroom scenes were shot.

Many fan trips serve up hearty meals in the best hotels in England. Most of the trips include some quick stops at old pubs, medieval houses and, of course, eating lunch at Harry Potter’s dinner table.

“I’m going to Hagrid’s, I’ve got a good feeling about going to Hagrid’s.”

Ready to book your trip to England? Click here for airfare and don’t forget your condo card so you can save $600 on a condo-stay.

When summer comes, you can tell by the slowness at which people crawl towards air conditioned shops, stores, and their homes. They’re slow, but they’re determined.

Bottled water companies cha-ching their way through summer. Air Conditioning contractors, much like school children, mark off the days on their calendar. Some of us just sweat.

Here are 10 things you can do to make your summer a breeze

1. Take the kids to a splash park in the afternoons or make your own. Nothing helps cool us off faster than cool water and splash parks are quite the rave with children. If you don’t happen to live near a splash park, create your own in your back yard. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. An inflatable pool, a hose, or even sprinklers will do the trick. Remember those days? Me too.

2. Go On A Cruise. No matter how hot it is outdoors, the rush of ocean breeze while on a cruise just never seems hot. A cruise is more like a resort on the sea. If you do happen to get warm on deck, simply take a break from the sun and dart into a shop on board or a restaurant, get some ice cream. kids love cruising as well. Cruises are not only inexpensive but once you go on one, you’ll be hooked. Revolution Vacations is offering up some mad summer deals on cruises.

3. Use white European cotton sheets. European cotton is the only way to go. Not only are they the most comfortable sheets, they also keeps your body cool in the summer.

4. Opt for white window treatments to reflect the heat away from your windows. And even though you may love bright and cheerful rooms like I do, make sure you close your window blinds or shades on the west and south sides of your home.

5. Tour Fairbanks Alaska. With 20 hours of daylight in July and August and extremely nice temperatures just under 75 degrees at its warmest, you can not only enjoy more of the beautiful state, but because it stays light so long you can do things you normally may not think of at night. Try one of the Midnight Hot Air Balloon tours, the sites are amazing and they are also something you’ll never get a chance to see from this perspective. Check out Alaska options here.

6. Mow your lawn just before dark or very early in the morning. Mow very early in the morning as long as you are not my neighbor . Otherwise, mow the grass as the temperature starts to cool down. Mowing late in the day also gives you the chance to cool down and relax for the evening with a nice cool shower.

7. Take A Wine Tour In Napa Valley. Limos are air conditioned. They are also the best way to tour Napa Valley’s wine country. An experienced driver will know, just from talking with you for a while, the wineries that will suit your personality best. Go ahead and grab a couple of friends and take a 3 day weekend to Napa Valley, you won’t regret it. Stay In Napa Valley

8. Don’t get all worked up. Getting upset really can feel like your blood is “boiling”. Try to keep your sanity in the summertime.

9. Help friends and family with travel plans and make money. Because children are out of school for summer break, summer is the time for travel. This is a great time for you to get involved in a travel business so you can help your friends and family save money this summer. Travel is a giant industry and can afford you things you never though possible. The greatest thing is, with travel… you don’t have to be a salesman! Just let your acquaintances know you can get them good deals on their travel plans and you’ve got a built in customer base. Nice. Check out your options here as a Travel Consultant.

10.Plan several mini trips for summertime. The last day of a trip or vacation is usually a bummer. Thinking about going back to work or just re acclimating to the daily grind is actually stressful. Don’t do that to yourself. Instead, plan several small 2-3 day mini vacations that you can look forward to throughout the summer. Cruises work especially well for this because you can go to fantastic places for so little money. If you’re a land lover at heart, consider using our Condo Card or Condo Q Cards This way you can not only get a $600 discount on condo stays but condos are much more accommodating. Especially for a family.

If, through all of the ups and downs of the past school year, you’ve put vacation plans on the back burner and are just now realizing you haven’t even begun to think about where you’ll go this summer for your vacation, why not plan one of the better inexpensive getaways that every kid and adult will just love? A trip to Lake Buena Vista, in the Orlando area of Florida is centrally located to the beaches, great restaurants, shopping and more with Disney World less than 5 miles away. And, for the outdoors-types… consider taking a day or two off from your Lake Buena Vista stay and travel just 40 miles north to Cassadaga and enjoy a totally relaxing cabin in Blue Spring State Park. Or, if you’re more of a water baby, just go about 60 miles north west of Orlando to Ocala State Park where you can set up camping gear and spend your days swimming, snorkeling and fishing!

Don’t forget your condo card. Why pay more when you don’t have to. And why be cramped in a tiny expensive hotel when you can enjoy staying in a large condo for less money? Condo cards allow you to take $600 off your stay and in addition, there are no charges for extra people or extra days. All stays are for one week.

Get your condo card here, and while you’re at it… check out the Lake Buena Vista Blue Tree Resort. Yummy.

What? You read that right. Many people are going back to the roots of the nation and re-discovering what other generations lived. Farm life can be a really neat experience. Spending time on a farm not only brings us closer to nature but it’s also a chance to meet people with exceptional qualities; strong work ethic, good fellowship and respect.

Farm vacations are also among the least expensive holiday destinations.

When you contact a vacation farm ask about sleeping arrangements and bathroom facilities. Most have separate living quarters for guests but some do not. Some vacation farms even pick you up from the airport.

Look up Farm Vacations on Google, and visit The Green Acres Farm while you’re at it http://www.thegreenacresfarm.com/

If you don’t think you’re cut out for a Farm Vacation, that’s ok… there is time to consider it. You just may change your mind someday. If you’re ready for a trip though, I’ve got some really great inexpensive getaways going through Quest Travel Network.
