Leave Your Worries At Home

by Nirva on August 4, 2009

It’s amazing that, even though many avid travelers are giving up exotic faraway locals this year, they’re still traveling. Even with the worry over job losses, people don’t like giving up their travels. After all, people seem to get lost in vacations. Many of the everyday worries are left at home.

Instead of doing a lot of flying, many are opting to drive to a destination. This way they save more money. They are also deciding on less expensive hotels and accommodations.

Instead of traveling for a week to 10 days, vacationers are taking plenty of day trips to the shore, museums, family attractions, historical sites or other areas that have interested them in the past, but not enough to actually go.

Travelers are looking for 2 things this summer. A vacation where they will not spend more than necessary and deep discounts that most of the travel industry is offering, successfully, to lure in vacationers.

Hard core leisure travelers will still take the same number of trips this year but they will stay fewer nights. What hotels are also seeing is that they wait until the last minute to book their vacation plans and leave. Even though the economy is really doing poorly, vacationers infuse the travel industry with their desires.

People are much more conscious than they were in the past and while many people see vacations as a luxury, health studies have shown that they are an absolute necessity.

city-club-hotelWant to get away for a couple days but don’t know where to go? Head to New York and take a break. Huh? That’s right. Parts of New York city have been redesigned for public spaces. Take a break from the museums and shopping and enjoy a metropolis setting in the great outdoors. Did we say for free? For free.

Familiar to tourists and locals alike, Times Square has a new pedestrian mall between 42nd and 47th streets. No traffic here either. Instead enjoy great lawn chairs where you can soak up rays and spread out. Even Herald Square has been closed to traffic and is now a pedestrian zone. Nice!

Even on Manhattans west side you can enjoy the elevated steel railway, once carrying trains, now a park which offers views of the city 30 feet over the street.

You can find super online hotel rates at some of the finest hotels in the area. And, as with most anything now days, the prices are incredibly low. As is airfare. Check out both options here.

Once of the nicest things about New York is that you don’t really have to worry about renting a car, who’d want to. You’re right in the middle of everything. Check the rates here.
